approach to

weddings.

If you’re interested in finding out how I work, how I approach your day, what gives me the feels when I’m working and ultimately how I approach wedding photography you’re in the right place. This page talks about my wedding photography philosophy and ultimately how I go about documenting your day to make sure you have an awesome time and get amazing pictures to look back on for years to come.

So, you would like to know how I will approach your wedding photography? Lets dive in…………….

Notice that I said YOUR wedding photography. I believe strongly that the although I am the one with the camera snapping the pictures they are ultimately your pictures and your memories, they tell your story……..

Everyone has their own unique story and I want to tell yours in an authentic and natural way. I aim to capture relaxed, creative images that will transport you back, time and time again, to your special day and fill you with that wonderful emotion that you felt throughout the whole experience.

I have an unobtrusive style and I aim to let your day unfold naturally, as you planned it. I will fit around your day, and I won’t take up your time, ask you to do silly poses or repeat anything.

Although I am laid back, please do not mistake this for a lack of focus. I am dedicated and I work hard on the day to create emotive amazing images. I am constantly on the look out for moments to capture throughout the whole day. I believe emotion is captured by being close to the subject in the photo and not by hiding across the room with a long lens.

With this in mind I work hard to blend into your wedding so that I feel more like one of the guests with a camera instead of the official photographer.

Often, I get mistaken for a guest or asked how I know the couple, for me this is perfect because it shows how comfortable everyone is and leads to the best wedding pictures.

It’s a normal thing for people to feel uncomfortable or nervous in front of the camera (Hell! that’s why I stand behind it most of the time). However, I have a relaxed wedding photography style and pride myself on making sure you are comfortable and enjoy the whole experience.

Let’s get swept away in the magic of your day without ever missing a moment. Candid, relaxed wedding photography is the bulk of what I love to produce for my couples but with a sprinkling of gorgeous, natural portraits.

p.s I love a good natter over a cup of tea/coffee so please drop me a line to chat about all your plans!

01. What’s my

Style?

Its not uncommon for photogrpahers to catorgatise themselves as reportage, documentary, fine art, photo journalistic.

For me personally I dont like to put a label onto my particular style of photography. Mostly because I find it really difficult to label it! I prefer to say that there are elements of many different types of photography in my work. I guess you could say i’m a hybrid (insert laughing emoji). My style of photography will vary slightly from wedding to wedding depending on your day. Every wedding is slightly different and every one has a unique story (thats one of my favortie things about weddings) and for me working and collaborating with my couple and building a strong relationship is the most important thing.

02. Beautiful, Natural

Portraits

I aim to capture relaxed and natural portraits. I will never over pose or ask you to do anything cheesy or over organised. I will usually ask for around 20 mins of your day, this can be done in one go or in several smaller chunks to flow best around your day. The most important thing to me is that you enjoy yourselves and we capture amazing photos together, so this time typically involves us going for a stroll around the wedding venue or grounds. My couples will often say this was one of their favourite parts of the day (even those who were most nervous about being photographed). It is an opportunity for you to get some one-on-one time away from the busyness of the day and enjoy being newly married.

Nothing Awkward

Just fun,

relaxed photos

03. The all important

Family Photos

This one comes up a lot…..and I can absolutely see why. In short the answer is absolutely yes! I always want and try to shoot weddings in the same way that I wanted my own to be shot and getting photos of all of your important people is a must! I shoot the groups in a realxed way rather than being anal about everyones positioning. Each one of these shots can take time which is time away from you enjoying the day so if you want 20 different combinations of shots then i’m probably not the guy for you but a handful of shots of all of your important people then we’l be fine.

04. How I shoot the

Dance Floor?

I love to shoot dance floor. When ever possible I will use ambient light to take your photos, however there are often occaisions when I will use flash to capture the action. Eactly how I will set this up will vary slightly depending on the venue and the environment but I will alway use a set up that I feel creates the best effect to capture the vibe of the party. I will get stuck in amongst you and your guests while you party so that the photos feel like your back in the middle of the party. I do not believe you can get dance floor shots without being in the thick of the party and I have loads of fun capturing these moments.

05. You.re in

Safe Hands

I often get asked about what cameras I use and why it’s important. Ultimately I believe that with the right amount of skill and knowhow, amazing images can be captured regardless of the equipment. However it’s good to know that I shoot with two cameras throughout your day, this is for a few reasons but the coll thing is that each camera has 2 individual memory cards. This means that there is an instant back up of all of your images. As soon as I get home or back to my hotel room at the end of the night tyour images get backed up onto my laptop/comuter and they are also backed up to the cloud. So both you and I can rest easy knowing that even if something unexpected happens, your images are safe.
