ABOUT ME

Nice To Meet You!

Hi, I’m Dan and I live Birmingham. Firstly, I want to thank you for visiting my site and for considering me as your wedding photographer. I believe that building a relationship with my couples leads to the best results when it comes to your wedding photos. You will spend a huge portion of your day with your wedding photographer and this is so much more enjoyable if they are not a stranger. So here are a few bits and bobs about me.

I am born and bred in the West Midlands and my love of photography started at young age. My inspiration was my granddad. He was a wedding photographer way back when camera flashes were the size of frying pans and cameras weighed about the size of a toddler. He would stand under the cover of the camera and my Nan would direct the groups for their family portraits.

As a child I was one of the privileged few that he would allow into his dark room to help develop the photos. Well, to be honest, I say I helped but looking back I think I was more in the way than I was helpful!! I used watch as he nervously awaited the results of the developing photos.

I can’t image nowadays leaving a wedding I’ve photographed and having to wait a few days before knowing if I had actually taken anything good! Thankfully technology has moved on a bit since then and so I know instantly that the photos are great!

My dad also has a keen interesting photography so you could say it’s in my blood. I feel very lucky that I have been able to turn my passion into a profession and to be honest it doesn’t feel like work to me at all!

Away from photography I live with my amazing wife Annabelle and we are expecting our first child in January next year. I am excited and terrified in equal measure!

I have a keen interest in all things’ sports. I am a Wolves supporter (please don’t hold this against me though) and at some point in my life I have played most sports, I represented England at junior level for badminton and volleyball and I still play badminton most weeks even now to a decent standard (at least I think so anyway).

Random fact – I am a trained podiatrist (chiropodist) and I have a master’s degree in foot and ankle surgery. I had initially thought that this would not be relevant to my photography but the skills I have learnt in this job have helped me a lot. I love to talk to people, and I am comfortable talking to anyone who wants to chat, and I think this has come from my job as a podiatrist where I have learnt these communication skills.

I have worked for the past 5 years at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, this is a huge hospital and we see all kinds of people come through our doors. Working in this environment has taught me a new level of empathy and I believe this helps me in my photography work when it comes to telling your story.

Another slightly less healthy consequence I have gained after a decade of NHS work is a love of all things caffeinated. I love a good coffee and I love even more to sit and have a natter over a cup. I would love for you to get in touch so we can have a chat and get excited about your story and your day! I look forward to meeting you and finding out all about you and your wedding plans!
